In 2005,
God gave Billy Fowler the vision to begin the groundbreaking
ministry of Angler’s Outreach. Over 20,000 anglers participate
in fishing tournaments each weekend and the need for this type of
ministry had been previously overlooked. The sole purpose Angler’s
Outreach is to share the message and love of Christ with
professional tournament anglers.
As Angler’s
Outreach begins its fourth year, it has broken new ground in
ministry. While ministering at the different tournament venues,
the hydration tent has offered both opportunities to meet the
physical needs of the angler after a long, hot day on the water
and also the spiritual needs. The chaplains have had opportunities
to witness to and pray with many anglers.
Following Jesus’
example, Angler’s Outreach is a relationship based ministry.
Because of these relationships, many feel at liberty to share
their personal needs with the chaplains. One chaplain ministered
to an angler after the tragic death of a family member. Another
chaplain had the opportunity to counsel and to pray with a lady
who was troubled over her need for a heart transplant. The
importance of relationships has been demonstrated many times.
It is the vision
of Angler’s Outreach’s to impact the lives of tournament
anglers through relationships while encouraging them to have a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ. |
